Continued population ageing and the rising number of older people as baby-boomers reach old age has produced a rash of reports on what to do about long-term care. Three in particular stand out, one of which is the CNSA report into which the CFDT gave its input.

Called out by the Force Ouvrière Pensioners Confederal Union and other pensioners’ confederations, they were protesting about the steep decline in what their pensions will buy in recent years, and demanding an immediate, significant rise in pensions.

The level of retirement pensions and what they can buy have declined steadily over the past fifteen years in a country whose gross domestic product expands each year. CGT suggests ways of halting an erosion that brings shame on a developed nation.
